Dates: 4-9 August 2022
Location: The Garden Resort, Tisno
Defected Croatia is one of the newest EDM festivals in Croatia. The event started in 2016 and kept getting bigger each year. Although it doesn’t gather as many people as its contemporaries, it has a relatively large fan base. Festival takes place in idyllic Garden Resort in Tisno, a home to several other Croatian festivals in 2021. Similarly to other events in Croatia, Defected was postponed in 2020, but already has confirmed dates and artists for 2022. Read below to get more information about festival dates, tickets and lineup.
About Defected Croatia
Defected Croatia is basically a UK festival taking place in Croatia. The event organizers are British, founders of the Defected Records label which has a niche in house music. Each year, Defected welcomes several thousand people to the Garden Resort. Despite being a relatively new festival, organizers still managed to attract respectable names. Basement Jaxx, Claptone, Sam Divine, Derrick Carter and Eats Everything are just some of them. Of course, there were numerous other DJs and artists who performed at Defected. Festival usually lasts for 5 days, but there are also other activities like beach and boat parties taking place either before or after the main event.
Defected has not yet announced its lineup for 2022. We will update this section as soon as organizers announce the first names.
There are three types of tickets you can buy for Defected 2022:
- Full Festival Tickets
- Group Tickets
- Barbarella Tickets
Full festival tickets include a six-day access to all day & night parties in Garden Tisno, along with the access to the Barbarella after parties. The ticket DOES NOT include access to boat parties. Price starts at £229 + booking fees. There is an option to split the price into multiple installments, but in that case price goes up.
Group tickets are intended for multiple people. The price is currently not on display, and you’ll have to contact the organizers to get an exact quote.
Barbarella tickets give you access to the festival after-parties. These tickets DO NOT include access to the main festival site and boat parties. The price starts at £50 + booking fees. Note that Barbarella parties are not located in the Garden Tisno, but some 15 minutes from the festival venue.
All tickets are on sale at the moment on the official festival website.
Defected Croatia Boat Parties
The festival lasts for 6 days. However, each day there are 2 boat parties, taking place on the Argonaught boat. The boat has 2 floors, in which several dozens people can fit. Boat parties usually last for a few hours, while the Argonaught is sailing in the Tisno bay. Tickets for boat parties usually go on sale after the regular festival tickets. If you’d like to attend both festival and boat parties, you’ll have to buy separate tickets for both.
How to get to The Garden Tisno
Zadar airport is the closest to the festival, located about 53 km north of the venue. Alternatively, you could fly into Split airport, which is located 70 km south. It all depends on where you’re coming from, and if these two airports have direct flights from your city. Once at the airport, you can use shuttle buses to get to Zadar or Split. There is a bus station in both cities, and from there you can take a bus to Tisno.
Taking a bus is the main way of transportation in Croatia. Train network is poor, rides are expensive and slow when compared to buses. However, with a bus you can basically reach even the smaller towns in Croatia. There are daily departures from all the larger cities in Croatia such as Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Rijeka and Šibenik. Basically what you have to do is just get to one of the larger cities, and there will be a direct line to Zadar. From Zadar take a direct bus to Tisno.
NOTE: Except for Zadar, there is no direct bus from other larger cities to Tisno. These buses just pass the main road near Tisno, so you’ll have to tell the driver to stop somewhere close so you can continue your trip.
This would be an unusual way of getting to the Defected festival. The Garden Tisno is located on the beach, however there is no ferry port anywhere nearby. The closest one is in Vodice, about 13 km away. But even then, you would need to take a bus to Tisno. Moreover, there are not a lot of ferries arriving at the Vodice port. We recommend getting to the festival by bus!
How to get to Defected Croatia
As mentioned above, Defected is located in The Garden Tisno resort. At some point you’re going to have to use either bus or taxi to get to the festival venue. If you’re taking a taxi or transfer, they will take you directly to the venue, no matter your starting location.
If you’re taking a bus, we recommend reaching the cities of Zadar or Šibenik. There are direct bus lines from these two cities to Tisno. Once you’re in the town of Tisno, the festival venue is located 1.5 km from the bus stop. Additionally, if you’re unable to get to Zadar or Šibenik, there are also direct buses departing from smaller towns of Vodice and Pirovac.

There is a designated camping place at Defected Croatia. It is located a couple of minutes from the beach. The site is equipped with toilets, showers and a small storage facility. You can choose to rent their tent or bring your own. Price of the camp accommodation depends on if you’re going to rent the tent or not. If so, the prices start at 91€ per day. For everyone bringing their own equipment, prices start at 17 € per day per person.
Alternatively, there are numerous private accommodation units available to rent. Tisno town and nearby Murter island are very popular tourist destinations, so you will be able to find private accommodation, hotels, motels and apartments nearby. We recommend booking everything in advance, as prices increase as the festival season approaches. You can use any of the most popular accommodation sites like Booking.com, Airbnb or TripAdvisor to find your apartment.
What to see while at Defected?
We presume your main goal when going to Defected is to party and have loads of fun. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t visit some other sights nearby, and explore the natural beauties Croatia offers. Here are some ideas on what else to visit while at the festival.
Beaches – although you will spend most of your festival time on the main beach, you should definitely visit other beaches near the venue. Most of them are located on Murter island, and they vary from pebble to sandy ones. Beaches Slanica, Kosirina, and Čigrađa are just some of them. To see their exact location, see the map at the end of the article.
Nearby islands – there are numerous smaller islands located in the close proximity of the festival. The most obvious one is Murter island, which can be reached on foot or by car, since there is a bridge connecting the mainland with Murter. Other notable smaller islands include Gerbosniac, Školjić and Tužbina. These are all small islands, reachable only by boat. However, once you get there, you’ll never want to leave. There are numerous spots for swimming, diving, and other summer activities.
Jezera town – located on Murter island, this is a typical small Dalmatian coastal town. You will find several restaurants offering authentic Croatian food. There are also cafe bars, beaches and a boat marina. However, the best part of the town is the natural charm seen only in these smaller island villages.
Šibenik and Vodice – these two represent the typical Croatian coastal towns. Šibenik is a larger city, rich in historical heritage. You will find 3 fortresses in town, as well as numerous small streets (kale) and a famous cathedral. Plenty to see in Šibenik, so we definitely recommend going there before or after Defected. Vodice is a smaller town, but you still have something to see, from world-class beaches to Dalmatian cuisine restaurants.

There are 3 stages clubs at the festival – Beach stage, Main stage and Olive Grove. All of them are located at or near the beach. The distance between each stage is minimum, easily walkable.

All of them offer traditional, authentic Dalmatian cuisine. Bringing your own food at the venue is forbidden by organizers.
There will be all kinds of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, from cocktails, wine, beer to soft drinks.
As far as we know, there is no WIFI at Defected. You could probably catch free WIFI at some of the cafe bars and restaurants in Tisno. However, those are far away from the festival venue. We recommend purchasing a Croatian SIM Card and buying some of the Internet packages.
The official currency in Croatia is Kuna. One Euro is equal to about 7.5 Kunas. There is an ATM machine at the festival venue. In addition, there are several other ATMs in the Tisno village.
